Overview
The Komodo-X sits between RED’s entry-level Komodo and its high-end Raptor cinema cameras, keeping the same ultra-compact form factor as the original Komodo while stepping up image quality and performance.

Recording Formats & Frame Rates
- Internal ProRes 4444XQ 4:4:4 recording at 4096 x 2160 up to 60 fps PetaPixel
- Higher-resolution REDCODE RAW at 6144 x 3240 (80fps), 5120 x 2700 (96fps), 4096 x 2160 (120fps), and 2040 x 1080 (240fps)
- Data rates up to 560 MB/s using CFexpress Type B cards, with phase- and contrast-detect autofocus
Design & Handling
- Updated form factor aligned with RED’s DSMC3 line, while remaining relatively compact
- Accepts micro V-mount batteries (like the REDVOLT Nano-V) directly, without an adapter — something the original Komodo can’t do
- Built-in Wi-Fi and USB-C, aimed at multicamera setups and IP-based live-streaming workflows
- Reinforced, locking Canon RF lens mount with RED’s toolless mount system, plus an optional PL adapter with electronic ND for ARRI PL lenses
- 2.9″ fixed LCD touchscreen monitor, and a compact body weighing about 2.62 lb (1.19 kg) Matchstix Studios
Release
- First launched as a limited-edition “ST” model, with a standard production version following shortly after PetaPixel
